2013 NDAREC Annual Meeting
70th Annual Meeting
March 6, 7 and 8, 2013
Ramkota Hotel, Bismarck, N.D.

Powering Communities Empowering Members

NDAREC’s annual meeting this year joins a national discussion started by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association built around this question: What’s the purpose of electric cooperatives? Last year, NRECA created the 21st Century Cooperative Committee to re-examine the fundamental purpose of the electric cooperative movement in this country. The Committee’s work was built around ways that cooperative leaders and their cooperatives can be catalysts for positive change; build loyalty and trust among a new generation of members; and mobilize grassroots political strength. To accomplish that, the committee suggested co-ops around the country re-dedicate themselves to the original purpose of the REC movement, which the committee believes is this: “To power communities and empower members to improve the quality of their lives.”
