Cooperative Connection orientation program
Sept. 14 - 16, NDAREC Headquarters, Mandan



This orientation program is intended to help new employees, employed five or fewer years at the cooperative, and first-term directors gain a broader understanding of:

· The business purpose and structure of member-owned cooperatives

· The benefits of working together through a cooperative network

· Resources available to support their local cooperatives

North Dakota-South Dakota Office Managers &
Accountants Association Conference

October 11-13 — Spearfish, S.D.



This conference is being planned in collaboration with the South Dakota Rural Electric Association and its members. Featured conference topics will be determined by a joint planning committee from North Dakota and South Dakota, based on learning needs and interests of the combined state groups.

NDAREC Communications Workshop
October 26-27 — Bismarck or Mandan


Co-op communicators from across the state will learn more about industry issues, communications planning, writing, photography and more at the 2022 Communications Workshop. Prior to this workshop, NDAREC and North Dakota Living staff will gain input from co-op communicators to customize the training and meet specific technical needs.

Touchstone Energy Service Excellence: Member

November 2 (1-4 p.m.) — Mandan



Service Excellence: Member Engagement focuses on the most important function of the cooperative — meeting and exceeding the needs of the membership. Each member comes with various needs, experiences and expectations of the cooperative. The best way to serve the membership is to know the membership. Market research, understanding generational influences and technology preferences, and leaning into satisfaction strategies are just a few ways to unlock the power of increased member engagement.

Learning modules include:

1) understanding the member vs. the customer

2) leveraging ACSI

3) generational influences

4) communicating value of membership and the cooperative difference.


Touchstone Energy Service Excellence: What’s

November 3 (8:30-11:30 a.m.) — Mandan


This program addresses the cooperative and future members. Technology and innovation are driving the operations of the co-op. Technology and innovation are also shaping the increasing consumer expectation of community-driven organizations. From battery storage to smart home technologies, the cooperative must continue to be the trusted source for power and information.

Learning modules include:

1) building an effective business plan

2) understanding energy technology

3) cooperatives of the future

Conference & Exhibitor Showcase

December 7-9 — location to be announced


All employees are welcome to participate. The N.D. REC Engineering and Operations Association provides technical training for engineers, operations and construction personnel at its annual conference. This year’s conference will feature multiple sessions based on 2021 conference evaluations and other topics selected by the 

conference-planning committee.
