Apprenticeship is for those who aspire to serve their communities, to lead in innovation, and who recognized the value of paid on-the-job learning coupled with a robust education. Apprentices learn, not only job skills, but safety, responsibility, dedication, and pride in a job well done. Apprentices are required to complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job learning and 576 hours of correspondence studies.
NDAREC offers four apprenticeship programs, registered by the Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship. These programs include:
- Lineworker
- Meter Technician
- Substation Technician
- Relay Technician
Skills improvement programs are crucial for developing personnel. Whether pre-apprentice or active workforce, employees improve upon their trade knowledge. Correspondence programs are offered through Northwest Lineman College. They include line worker, meter technician and substation technician. These programs require between 432-576 hours of self-paced learning.
