High School Students to Attend Lineworker and Electrician Program in Bismarck-Mandan
Hosted in partnership with the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives (NDAREC), the North Dakota Energy Education Program and electric cooperatives across the state, the weeklong program will be
held May 31 through June 5.
The camp provides students with real-world training and industry exposure through hands-on learning activities. Participants will explore topics such as AC/DC theory, circuit design, pole climbing, powerline construction, equipment operation, safety practices and troubleshooting techniques.
Open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, the program gives students an opportunity to explore rewarding career pathways in linework and electrical trades. Students may also receive school credit upon completion of the program.
Program costs, including training, lodging and meals, are fully covered through support from the North Dakota State Energy Program, NDAREC and other partners, making the camp accessible to students statewide.
“This hands-on camp introduces students to meaningful, in-demand careers while building the next generation
workforce,” said Josh Kramer, NDAREC general manager. “It’s an opportunity for students to learn by doing and connect directly with industry professionals.”
The High School Lineworker and Electrician Camp reflects NDAREC’s commitment to workforce development
and ensuring a skilled workforce to support safe, reliable electric service across North Dakota.
