Local Food Promotion Program (through USDA-AMS): Funds projects that develop, coordinate and expand local and regional food business enterprises.
RFBC
Regional Food Business Center (through USDA-AMS): North Dakota is part of a three-state conglomerate (North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota), called the North Central Regional Food Business Center, that applied to USDA and was awarded funding to benefit small- and mid-sized producers, processors, aggregators and distributors that sell into all types of markets, including local and regional markets. The program includes products produced locally or regionally, including fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, grains and dairy. NDAREC's rural development staff is involved with this regional project under the NDREC Foundation.

Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program (through USDA-RD): Provides zero-interest loans up to $2 million through an electric or telecom cooperative that is a qualified Rural Utilities Service (RUS) borrower.
MPPEP
Meat & Poultry Processing Expansion Program (through USDA-RD): Provides grants to help eligible processors expand their capacity.
MCAP (Local MCap)
Local Meat Capacity Grant (through USDA-AMS): Supports independently owned meat and poultry processing businesses with funds to provide more and better processing options for local livestock producers.
REAP
Rural Energy for America Program (through USDA-RD): A grant program for rural small businesses or agricultural producers for energy efficiency improvements or renewable energy systems.
NREDA
National Rural Economic Developers Association: A member organization dedicated to the advancement of rural economic development by providing education and networking opportunities to further the movement of grower and revitalizing rural America.
